I’ve worked with several top-tier content management systems (CMS) and many more lower-end open source applications.  The top echelon of software products attempt to do many things well.  The configurations are endless, and the possibilities limitless; however, when time comes to implement with the realities of an eminent launch looming and limited budgets, the endless possibilities become paralyzing, and often times, very smart people make very bad decisions.
