Reinvention
City of Ventura

Sample Work

Since 2005, the City of San Buevaventura’s website content had grown organically while adding various third-party applications to address specific Departmental needs. The site was not originally designed with this growth in mind and the end result was a website where the City constituents had to click and click to find what they were looking for.

In partnership with Cignex, Xperience Interactive was brought in to help the City organize its information, reinvent its online personality, and optimize the user experience implementing user experience best-practices for quick information access. With only 5 months to implement a new Alfresco Content and Asset Management System, a Drupal front-end, and integrate various applications, the City and its hired team had to work fast.

Our engagement began with a week’s worth of stakeholder interviews where Xperience Interactive led the Departments in defining department-specific and general functionality requirements, while getting to know the City’s personality to inform the visual design. A summery document outlined the approach with which we would organize the content and reduce page counts, refined the scope of functionality, and ensured that we had buy-in from all stakeholders to proceed with the reinvention.

Two parallel work streams helped with specific technical and system requirements and visual design explorations. In eight weeks Xperience Interactive had defined the user experience, delivered a beautiful new look-and-feel, and created an engaging and functional site.

The newly reinvented site is scheduled to launch in April 2,010.
