The Washington Post / Kaplan

BACKGROUND

For the Washington Post and its affiliate Kaplan , Xi was brought in with its open source technology partner CIGNEX to capture and document business requirements for the development of three new intranets. Xi’s user experience team worked on site at the Washington Post and Kaplan offices in Washington D.C. and New York City. The team conducted numerous stakeholder interviews and group sessions to identify user types, prioritized tasks, and potential functionality to support business initiatives.

Although the business requirements documentation was technology agnostic, the client quickly made the decision to select the Open Source Liferay Portal Platform. Xperience Interactive and CIGNEX, the leading open source technology integrator, worked together to translate the business requirements into functional requirements and a proposed solution that can be delivered by the Liferay platform. The project is still in development.

RESULT

The result will be multiple enterprise intranets delivered on the Liferay platform that enhance cross company communication,
collaboration, and innovation personalized to individual user needs.
